YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics is a fund raising event for Special Olympics.  Funds will be used to support the year-round Special Olympics program across the State of Florida.  The torch run offers law enforcement officers and citizens the opportunity to work together to help the mentally handicapped children and adults in our community.  You can make a difference by placing a donation in the designated Special Olympics receptacle located at your local law enforcement facility.  Your contribution will help Special Olympics to keep this worthwhile program operating at every level.  Checks can be made payable to SPECIAL OLYMPICS BROWARD.

WHAT IS THE TORCH RUN?

The Torch Run is a grass-roots fund raising program uniting law enforcement, Special Olympics and members of the community in one grand event where everybody wins.

Sworn law enforcement personnel will run throughout Florida while raising funds for Special Olympics.  The law enforcement officers will carry the Special Olympics Torch to its destination: The 2008 Summer Games in Orlando, Florida.  The Torch is presented at the Opening Ceremonies symbolizing the beginning of the competition.

HELP SPECIAL OLYMPICS!

You can help support the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics through any of the following activities:

• ADOPT-A-COP:  Ask friends and neighbors to help you raise funds by “adopting” a sworn law enforcement officer as their official Torch Runner. Neighborhood, friends, civic clubs, and church groups may be interested in supporting you in assisting this worthwhile cause.  To qualify for the ADOPT-A-COP program, a minimum $50.00 contribution should be made payable to Special Olympics Broward. In return, the contributor(s) will receive a framed certificate of appreciation from the Broward Special Olympics.

• CORPORATE SPONSORSHIPS: Ask local business and corporations to be an official sponsor of the 2008 Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.  To qualify for this program, a minimum contribution of $250.00 should be made payable to Special Olympics Broward.  In return, the contributor(s) will receive an official “Supporter of the Special Olympics” plaque from Special Olympics Broward.  Additionally, the sponsor will be allowed to display his or her company’s official logo and banner at the Torch Runs starting and finish lines.

• TORCH RUN T-SHIRTS & HATS: Purchase an official Torch Run T-Shirt ($12.00) or a Hat ($10.00) to show your support of the Special Olympics. 

• CONTRIBUTION:  Make a personal financial contribution to Special Olympics Broward through the Law Enforcement Torch Run.

• COMMUNITY SUPPORT: Ask friends, family, neighbors, club members, etc. to help you by contributing to your efforts.

• TIP-A-COP:  Participate by contacting your local restaurant and starting your own a tip-a-cop program.
