Special Olympics Broward County

Volunteers are the backbone of Special Olympics.  If you’re seeking a volunteer opportunity that can make a difference in your life and the lives of others, Special Olympics needs you.

Depending on your interests and the amount of time you have available, we can use your help.  The following describes our volunteer opportunities:

• Day of event volunteers—help support our county competition in county games
• Training program volunteers—be a coach, unified partner or help support athletes as they train for a sport
• County Management Team committee volunteers—use your expertise to support the county program.  Public Relations, Budget and Finance, Volunteer Management, Fund Raising are just a few of the committees  (CMT)
• General support volunteers—Fund raising events, speakers bureau, entertainment, data entry, secretarial work, medical exam for athletes

The minimum age for Special Olympics Broward County volunteers is generally age 16.  However, minors as young as 10 may participate depending on availability of appropriate activities and appropriate supervision by a family member or adult chaperone/supervisor.  Every volunteer, regardless of age, must fill out the appropriate registration materials. (Class A Vol. Form) (ClassB Vol. Form)Students and volunteers may receive community service hours for their participation.  Students should check with their schools to obtain the proper community service paperwork.

DIRECTIONS:  Take Broward Blvd west past Pine Island Road.  Make a right turn on Central Park Drive (not Central Park Place).  Turn right into the Central Park complex and follow the signs to the Aquatics Complex.
